LS was fed by the Pro Tools sequencer and the audio output was recorded with Ardour on. However, either type of track can pass either type of data. A MIDI track is created much like any other track (see Adding Tracks, Busses and VCAs). Controllers (CC data) can be set to discrete or continuous.

I have found nothing about that in this forum. Full automation for MIDI tracks, integrated with the handling of all MIDI CC data for each track. In the region list they have a position, an end and a length but at this position there is nothing in the trak or another region.
